  • ARTA 2916 - BFA Portfolio Review

    (0 credit)
    Prerequisites: Completion of 21 credits of studio art. 

    Students must complete the review prior to completing 40 credit hours of studio art. Students pursuing the BFA degree (Bachelor of Fine Arts) must complete the portfolio review prior to acceptance in the BFA program. Students must receive the grade of Satisfactory within two attempts in order to change to the BFA track. A committee, composed of Art and Design faculty members, conducts the reviews. Date and time for reviews are announced each semester.

  • ARTA 3602 - Color Photography

    (3 credits, repeatable)
    Prerequisites: ARTA 2200  or permission of the instructor.

    This course introduces the technical, conceptual, and aesthetic aspects of color photography. Activities include exposing and scanning 35mm, medium and large format color negatives and investigating analog and digital processes. Students examine perceptual and psychological implications of the color photographic image within contemporary and historical contexts, with an emphasis on incorporating color principles towards the development of their personal visions.

  • ARTA 4419 - Residency I: Teaching Art in Elementary and Secondary Schools

    (3 credits)
    Prerequisites: Admission to Teacher Education.

    Corequisites: CUAI 4416 , CUAI 4426 .

    A study of the aims, philosophy, and curricula of the elementary and secondary school art program based on an examination of available literature. Required for certification in art. No course substitutions. This course counts as education credit and cannot be used to meet the art course requirement for a minor or major in art. At the beginning of the course the student will submit a portfolio of his/her art works to the art education faculty for review. Must be taken the fall semester prior to Residency II (student teaching).
