BIOC 6600 - Molecular Biology and Genomics(3 credits) Prerequisites: BIOM 5010 /BIOM 6010 - BIOM 5020 /BIOM 6020 required, BIOM 5030 /BIOM 6030 - BIOM 5040 /BIOM 6040 recommended. An advanced graduate course on molecular biology and genomics, focused on their principles and research practice. It is intended to provide students with the latest knowledge and methodologies for biomedical research at the level of gene structure, organization and expression in eukaryotic cells. Topics include macro-molecular interactions, structure-function relationships, regulation of gene replication and expression, applications of recombinant DNA methodologies, protein engineering and bioinformatics, genome mapping, and DNA damage, mutagenesis and repair.
