COUN 5430 - Legal, Ethical, and Professional Issues in Counseling(3 credits) This course is designed to acquaint students with legal, professional, and ethical issues that affect the practice of counseling and therapy. These issues include (1) the influence of personal characteristics and values on the counseling process; (2) confidentiality, privileged communication and the rights of clients, (3) malpractice, and (4) counselor training, competence and licensure.
