MALS 5350 - Theory and Practice of Regionalism(3 credits) Prerequisites: MALS 5000 and MALS 5100 . Interdisciplinary seminar in the theory and practice of regionalism. Course topics include “old” vs. “new” regionalisms (globalization and the market model; government/ governance and empowerment; regionalism, localism and provincialism) and critical regionalism (modernization, urbanization, and the homogenization of culture; space, place, bioregion, and sustainability). Graduate students outside the MALS Program may enroll with the permission of the instructor.
