CUAI 3221 - IDEAS: Integrating Language Arts and Social Studies(3 credits) Prerequisites: Students must be admitted to Teacher Education.
This course sets forth an integrated approach to curriculum in which social studies content, literature, and language arts skills are taught through five central themes. These central themes are I-Imagination, Discovery, E-Encounters, A-Adventures, and S-Synergy. Language arts skills-listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking-are integrated into social studies and literature experiences that are based on meaningful content and children’s experience. Students are invited to get involved in a variety of creative activities and learning situations that range from individual inquiry to group interactions.
