GEOL 2480 - Field Methods in Geosciences(4 credits) Prerequisites: GEOL 1040 /GEOL 1041 , GEOL 1050 /GEOL 1051 , or permission of instructor.
An introduction to the methods of measurement, sampling techniques, and data collection used by the field geologist. Topographic and airphoto techniques of mapping, section measurement, and description, and structure description and analysis will be treated. Three lecture, two laboratory sessions per week.
Honors students will be expected to map an area, mutually agreed on by the instructor and the student, and submit the map and a report on the selected area by the end of the semester.
