ENTP 3020 - Protecting Intellectual Property

(3 credits)
Discusses the basics of intellectual property (IP) and associated options including patents, trademarks, digital rights, copyrights, and trade secrets. This course evaluates various attributes of IP including how to recognize it, its role in business, how it works, when is it used and best ways to leverage and monetize IP as an entrepreneur. The course also examines patent protection feasibility and the patent registration considerations and identifies types of IP used across major industries to protect content, processes, designs, ideas and brands as well as highlighting recourse options when IP is infringed, both domestically and abroad.
