Direct patient care pharmacy practice experience occurs in a specialty pharmacy setting. Student may dispense high cost and/or complex medication regimens in this setting for disease states such as cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis, among others. Student may have opportunities to educate patients about their medications, assist patients in applying for medication assistance programs, monitor drug therapy, and make suggestions for therapy adjustments as needed.
