APPE 7063 - Long-Term Care/Closed Door Pharmacy

Prerequisites/Corequisites: Enrollment in 4th professional year (P4).

Pharmacy practice experience is in a long-term care pharmacy/closed door setting. Although the student may not be in direct contact with patients on a regular basis, the student will be introduced to a number of specialized services to assist with the care of patients in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and/or special needs patients. These services may include: specialized drug packaging (Medicine on Time, TCG-Rx, Blister packaging, etc.), drug therapy monitoring, drug information services, and disease-state management, among others. Resource and operations management will also be part of this practice experience.
