BIOL 5167 - Biochemistry of Metabolism(3 credits) Prerequisites: BIOL 3100, or equivalent; CHEM 2010/CHEM 2011 or equivalent and CHEM 2020/CHEM 2021, or equivalent.
Covers the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, and nucleotides with emphasis on reactions, enzymes, energy changes, pathway regulation, and pathway integration. Production of energy-rich molecules in the cell is linked to important cellular functions (i.e., biosynthesis, movement, and transport). Three hours lecture per week.
