SURG 3018 - Junior Surgery Clerkship

(14 credits/7 weeks or 16 credits/8 weeks)

Required of all third-year medical students.
The eight-week Surgery Clerkship is comprised of two rotations in different inpatient settings focusing on experiences in both the General Surgery ambulatory and inpatient settings. All students will spend time at two of the following three facilities: Bristol Medical Center (BRMC), VA Medical Center (VAMC) or the Johnson City Medical Center (JCMC), Holston Valley Medical Center (HVMC). Hospital location assignments can be based on student requests, special needs, and/or space availability. Every attempt is made to assign each student to a specific surgery physician and/or surgery resident at each location that will facilitate feedback, both face-to-face and formally in writing.
