(10 credits/5 weeks or 12 credits/6 weeks)
Required of all Generalist Track third-year medical students.
Underserved Medicine is specifically designed to give the student an in-depth experience in the Social Drivers of Health and the resultant health disparities patients encounter. Students will learn through didactics, direct patient care in underserved areas, performing needs and resource assessments, community health fairs, and Public Health video modules. This 6-week experience is required of all generalist track students. This clerkship will also include ACLS certification and SP use to teach genitourinary examinations. Students may be required to spend weeknights in out-of-town locations during the patient care portion. Overnight accommodations, when required, will be provided.
