PEXS 1530 - Exercise Motivation and Behavior Change(3 credits) Presents an overview of various techniques for motivating people to be physically active and the foundational psychological theories of behavior change from which these strategies were derived. Potential areas to be addressed are the physical and mental health benefits of regular physical activity, national physical activity guidelines, mediators of physical activity, adoption and maintenance, and assessment of physical activity patterns and fitness. Finally, specific theory-based intervention strategies and best practices are described for various settings.
