HSCI 5747 - Mycology

(4 credits)

Prerequisites: General Microbiology and Organic Chemistry. A survey of the fungi with emphasis on structure, genetics, growth and nutrition, classification, ecology, and economic importance. In laboratory the fundamentals of general mycology and the procedures used for isolation and identification of fungi, including yeasts, molds, and actinomycetes, are investigated. Two hours lecture and two two-hour laboratories per week. (fall)
