The Department of Communication and Performance offers programs in Communication Studies, Theatre and Dance, and Storytelling. Our department pursues the following objectives as we educate and train our students: to provide professional preparation for careers in communication and the performing arts; to provide leadership training and development; and to help students and graduates use communication and performance skills, talents, and knowledge to create more humane social worlds.

The Department of Communication and Performance offers a B.A. in Theatre and a B.A. and B.S. in Communication Studies. In addition, we offer minors in Theatre, Dance, Storytelling, and Communication Studies.

A minor is required for all students majoring in this department.

Concentrations in Theatre and Speech are available for education majors seeking Tennessee licensing endorsement in these areas. See the Undergraduate Catalog under the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education for further information.
