The vision of the College of Business and Technology is to be nationally recognized as a leader in quality education in the applied sciences, business, and technology in the region. In its desire to fulfill this vision, the College defines its mission as providing quality education and promoting and supporting economic and technical development in our region by
- Providing our students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to enhance career opportunities and encourage lifelong learning;
- Advancing knowledge in academic and professional communities through research, creative and scholarly activities;
- Providing support and leadership to our Departments, our College, our University, our business and civic communities, and our professions; and
- Developing and promoting partnerships with business, industry, government and higher education.
The College of Business and Technology is comprised of seven departments: Accountancy; Economics and Finance; Management and Marketing; Computing; Military Science; Digital Media; Engineering, Engineering Technology and Surveying.
Accreditation
Accreditation has been achieved through AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation), NASAD (National Association of Schools of Art and Design), and ABET in the following programs:
AACSB, International
Undergraduate and graduate accounting and business programs in the College of Business and Technology are accredited by AACSB. Less than 5% of accounting and business programs world-wide have received this prestigious accreditation.
NASAD
The Bachelor of Science in Digital Media (Digital Animation, Digital Game Design, Digital Visual Effects, and Digital Visualization) program in the Digital Media Department and the Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture program in the Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Surveying Department are accredited by National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

Business and Technology Career Services
College of Business and Technology (CBAT) Career Services is a full-service provider of career services exclusively meeting the needs of CBAT students and alumni. CBAT Career Services provides support for student and alumni professional development by helping them solidify career goals, learn and apply job search skills, and engage in experiential learning as part of an evolving professional vision.
Internship/Co-op Program
An Internship/Co-op Program is offered to CBAT students wishing practical experience in their major. Students must be degree-seeking majors in the College with an overall GPA of 2.75 and have a GPA of 3.0 in their major coursework. In addition, students must also have declared a major in the College and successfully completed at least two courses in their majors before registering for an internship. Successful completion of the internship/co-op earns students one to three elective credits in their major.

International Student Seminar Policy
All students pursuing a degree from the College of Business and Technology on an international student visa must successfully complete 4 credit hours of International Student Seminar (CBAT 4107/CBAT 5107) as a part of their undergraduate or graduate program. Beginning with their first semester in residence, students will take International Student Seminar each semester in residence at ETSU until they have successfully earned 4 credit hours. Students may petition the College of Business and Technology Associate Dean for a waiver of one or more semesters of this requirement based on exceptional circumstances.
