The Secondary Education Minor is required for students seeking licensure in the secondary and K-12 teaching fields listed below. Completion of the minor and CUAI 4580 – Residency II (12 hours) will meet the professional education requirements for licensure. To qualify for licensure, students must also complete specific courses in their teaching field(s). Students must come to Warf-Pickel Hall, room 321, during their first semester in the program to start a file and subsequently must complete all admission and progression requirements for teacher education.

Graduate Study – Individuals already holding a bachelor’s degree in a secondary or K-12 teaching field and desiring initial licensure should apply to the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program. Individuals with initial teaching licensure and desiring advanced study should apply to the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Secondary Education.

Secondary Education Minor Requirements: 24 Credit Hours


A minor is a secondary area of study outside of the major program of study with a structured curriculum composed of at least 18 semester credit hours of which at least 9 hours must be at the 3000-level or above.
