The Department of Engineering Technology, Surveying, & Digital Media, a unit of the College of Business and Technology [CBAT], is one of the largest and most academically diverse units of East Tennessee State University. The Department offers undergraduate degree programs in numerous concentrations, undergraduate minors in two areas, and graduate degree programs in three concentrations. Several programs are accredited through ABET. Additionally, there are many majors and/or programs that are available through the Academic Common Market allowing out-of-state students to enroll at ETSU at in-state tuition rates.

The department’s adminstrative and faculty offices are housed primarily in two buildings on the ETSU main campus. The Engineering Technology and Surveying & Mapping programs are located in Wilson-Wallis Hall while the Digital Media program is housed across State of Franklin Road from the main campus in the Scott M. Niswonger Digital Media Center.

Construction Engineering Technology Concentration


This program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET, www.abet.org, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202-4012 – telephone: (410) 347-7700.

This concentration offers a diversified curriculum that prepares individuals for employment in the construction industry. Graduates are prepared for job opportunities in construction operations, management, testing, and design.

General Program Information


To earn a degree from ETSU, there are specific course requirements put forth by ETSU, by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), by each college, and by each department. All students must meet the degree requirements at each of these levels. Please follow the format below:

University-level Degree and Graduation Requirements

Students will enroll in the appropriate general education math course during their first calendar year of enrollment at ETSU. Students required to complete learning support in mathematics must enroll in a learning support-designated section (L01-L99) of MATH 1530  during their first 15 hours at ETSU (not including summer) unless they are also required to complete learning support in reading or writing. Students needing learning support in reading or writing in addition to learning support in math should enroll in MATH 1530-Lxx immediately upon completing their other learning support requirements.
