Basic Curriculum for All College of Business and Technology B.B.A. Majors


ETSU Academic Proficiency Requirements


Writing: Students must complete a minimum of four writing-intensive courses. At least two of these courses must be in the major field of study. At least two of the four courses must be at the  3000-4000 level.

Oral Communication: Students must complete a minimum of two oral communication-intensive courses. At least one of these courses must be in the major field of study.

Using Information Technology: Students must pass the information technology proficiency exam or successfully complete CSCI 1100 - Using Information Technology  during their first calendar year or prior to accumulating 33 semester credits at ETSU. In addition, students must complete at least one using information technology-intensive course in the major field of study.

Transfer students may be subject to reduced number of intensives.

Business Intensive Courses


At the present time the following business courses have been designated as intensive courses to meet university general education requirements. Writing-Intensive (WI) courses are ACCT 3000  and ACCT 4610 ; ECON 4447  and ECON 4610 ; FNCE 4447 , FNCE 4520 , FNCE 4560 , FNCE 4597 , FNCE 4617  and FNCE 4620 ; MGMT 3300 , MGMT 3320 , MGMT 4657 , and MGMT 4910 ; MKTG 3750 MKTG 4220 MKTG 4240 , and MKTG 4910 . Oral Communication-Intensive (OCI) courses are ACCT 3000 ; ECON 3700 ;  ECON 4337 FNCE 4617  and FNCE 4620 MGMT 4020 , MGMT 4030 , and MGMT 4460 ; MKTG 3740 and MKTG 4255 ; Using Information Technology (UIT) courses are ACCT 4310 ; ECON 2080 ; and MGMT 3220 . TBR General Education Requirements: 41 Credit Hours


Listed below are the categories and courses specified under TBR General Education Requirements. Note that certain courses are required for this degree, specific to this major. Thus, these courses will satisfy both a TBR General Education requirement AND a requirement of this major. (Other majors may require different General Education courses.) Where specific courses are required for this major,  only those courses are listed under the category. If there are no specific major requirements for a category, all course options appear.

9 credits, consisting of 6 credits of written composition and 3 credits of oral communication.

Students required to enroll in learning support in math must do so during their first term of enrollment or at ETSU, unless they are also required to enroll in learning support in reading, in which case they must take learning support in math immediately upon completing learning support in reading.
