Admission Requirements


Each applicant for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Reinforcing Education through Artistic Learning must meet the admission requirements of the ETSU School of Graduate Studies. Application for Admission to graduate study is open to any person with a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and with an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. The transcripts of applicants with bachelor’s degrees from non-regionally accredited institutions will be reviewed individually. In addition to submitting an application and official transcripts of all academic work previously completed, applicants to the certificate program must submit three letters of reference and an essay (three-four pages in length) describing related work experience and interest in the program.

After a review of the application materials, applicants whose documents indicate a potential for success will be invited for an interview with the MALS director and the head of Project REAL conducted in person, by telephone, or via Skype. Students will be admitted into the certificate program once a year for the fall semester.

Articulation Agreement


Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Reinforcing Education through Artistic Learning and subsequently are admitted into the MALS concentration in Applied Theatre Pedagogy may have up to fifteen (15) of the certificate hours applied toward the degree program of study as long as the courses fall within the matriculation limits.

Electives: 6 credit hours


Select two (2) electives from the following list. With permission of both the MALS Director and the Project REAL Director, a student may take one (1) course not on the list. As student may take only one (1) independent study.
