Special Education Minor Requirements: 19 credits

A minor is a secondary area of study outside of the major program of study with a structured curriculum composed of at least 18 credits of which at least 9 credits must be at the 3000-level or above.

Required Courses: 13 credits

SPED 2300 - Exceptional Learners in Schools and Communities (3 credits)
SPED 3322 - Early Intervention Strategies for the Exceptional Child (3 credits)
SPED 3400 - Classroom Environment and Behavior Management (3 credits)
SPED 4302 - Family and Professional Partnerships (3 credits)
SPED 4825 - Preclinical Experience in Special Education (1 credit)

Guided Electives: 6 credits

Choose from the following:

SPED 3300 - Instructional Planning for Students with Exceptional Learning Needs (3 credits)
SPED 4470 - Assessment of Exceptional Learning Needs (3 credits)
SPED 4753 - Programming for Individuals with Exceptional Learning Needs (3 credits)

Note:

Courses that are required in a major may not be double-counted toward a minor.
