The minor in art is appropriate for students wishing training in either studio art or art history; it consists of a minimum of 21 credits of study. The requirements for the minor consist of 6 credits selected from the Studio Foundations courses (ARTA 1xxx classes), 6 credits of 2xxx classes (ARTA or ARTH 2xxx classes), and 9 credits selected from 3xxx or above ARTA or ARTH classes. Grades applied to the minor must be “C” or above. Many 2xxx and above ARTA and ARTH classes include prerequisites. Students are encouraged to consult with a departmental advisor and review course descriptions prior to selecting and registering for class.

Students with an Art major concentrating in Art History (ARTH) may take an Art minor in Studio Art (ARTA). All courses taken for this minor must be ARTA (studio) courses and only the core requirements of ARTA 1110  and ARTA 1140  (required of all art majors) may be used for both major and minor.
