The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis has as its primary purpose the graduate preparation of individuals who will serve as educational leaders in K-12 schools and other organizations/agencies that offer educational programs and services. Programs in the department are approved by the Tennessee Department of Education. Student programs are designed to develop educational leaders through the study and practical application of educational foundations, theory, research, and practice.

Program Admission Requirements


In addition to the requirements for admission to the School of Graduate Studies, this program requires

  1. A personal essay in which the applicant discusses interest in the program and career goals
  2. Four (4) letters of recommendation, including a superintendent or comparable supervisor
  3. Current resume
  4. Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in P12
  5. Copy of valid teaching license(s)

All applicants are interviewed who have submitted required documentation/elements of the application.

The GPA for the applicant will be considered in context of the overall cohort (admitted students’ average) GPA average that must meet or exceed the accrediting body’s (CAEP) minimum of 3.0.

Students admitted to this concentration are members of a cohort with a planned sequence of courses comprised of six credits each fall, spring, and summer semester.
