The mission of the Department of Economics and Finance is to provide students with the educational experience necessary to succeed in a competitive global environment. The Department offers minor programs of study in both Economics and Finance for those students who would like to broaden their educational experience. We also offer a General Business minor that is especially valuable for non-business students who may have future aspirations to earn the Master of Business Administration degree.

Economics Minor Requirements: 18 credits

At least 9 credits must be at the 3000-level or above.

Required Courses: 9 credits

• ECON 2210 - Principles of Macroeconomics (3 credits)
• ECON 2220 - Principles of Microeconomics (3 credits)

•  

• ECON 3030 - Intermediate Microeconomics (3 credits)

• or

• ECON 3040 - Intermediate Macroeconomics (3 credits)

Economics electives: 9 credits

Choose 9 credits from the following:

• ECON 3030 - Intermediate Microeconomics (3 credits)
• ECON 3040 - Intermediate Macroeconomics (3 credits)
• ECON 3310 - Monetary Economics (3 credits)
• ECON 3700 - History of Economic Concepts (3 credits)
• ECON 3800 - Econometrics I (3 credits)
• ECON 4317 - Health Care Economics (3 credits)
• ECON 4327 - Labor Economics (3 credits)
• ECON 4337 - Government Finance and Public Choice (3 credits)
• ECON 4447 - Urban and Regional Economics (3 credits)
• ECON 4527 - International Economics (3 credits)
• ECON 4610 - Managerial Economics (3 credits)

• Note: Students are allowed to take both ECON 3030  and ECON 3040 . One is required and the second counts as an elective.

  Students with an interest in Macroeconomics are encouraged to take ECON 3310 .

  Students with an interest in Microeconomics are encouraged to take ECON 4610 .
