The Department of Chemistry offers a Master of Science in Chemistry degree with Thesis and Non-Thesis tracks. The Thesis track provides an immersive research experience that is particularly beneficial for those interested in pursuing future studies in Chemistry or related disciplines at the Ph.D. level or for those preparing for employment in chemical industry (or related sectors). The Non-Thesis track provides students with breadth and depth of knowledge in chemistry through advanced coursework to support their interests and career needs with respect to employment in the chemical industry or in professions such as teaching, business, law, or medicine.
Program Admission Requirements
In addition to Graduate School requirements, a student must meet the following to be eligible for admission to the program leading to an M.S. degree:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with an adequate undergraduate background for the advanced work in the Master of Science Program.
- Provide three letters of recommendation from individuals who can comment on the academic and personal qualifications of the applicant.
- Selected candidates will complete an interview, either in person or remotely, with a member of the graduate committee.
