The Sport Nutrition Certificate is a 15-credit fully online program of study designed for professionals and graduate students who are interested in increasing their knowledge of sport nutrition. Since sport nutrition is not a federally regulated occupation, each state is free to set their own certification and licensing standards. This certificate is not associated with the requirements to qualify students to take the national registered dietitian-credentialing exam.
Admission Requirements
In addition to the School of Graduate Studies requirements, the following are required
- a) Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in nutrition, dietetics, exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, athletic training, physical therapy or closely-related field or a) Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), b) Registered Dietitian (RD), c) graduate student currently enrolled in a dietetic internship/supervised practice accredited by Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
- At least 3 credits in Anatomy and Physiology or Exercise Physiology
- At least 3 credits in Principles of Nutrition Science or Introduction to Nutrition Science
- Resume
- 3.0 or above cumulative GPA on undergraduate coursework
- 3 letters of recommendation
Program Requirements
The Sport Nutrition Certificate will be awarded only to students who have been officially admitted to the program and successfully completed the 15-credits of approved coursework. Graduate credits from another institution cannot be transferred to the Certificate in Sport Nutrition program. All courses in the certificate must be completed at ETSU.
