The Council on Social Work Education does not accredit minor programs of study.

A grade of C- or below will not be accepted for SOWK courses taken for the minor and no more than nine (9) credits will be accepted as transfer SOWK credit.

Social Work Minor Requirements: 18 credits

At least 9 credits must be at the 3000-level or above.

Required Courses: 9 credits

SOWK 1010 - Introduction to Social Work (3 credits)
SOWK 1020 - Professional Values and Ethics (3 credits)
SOWK 1030 - Cultural Diversity (3 credits)

Advisor Approved Electives: 9 credits

Choose nine (9) credits from the following:

SOWK 3000 - Human Behavior/Social Environment (3 credits)
SOWK 3430 - Social Welfare Policy and Services (3 credits)
SOWK 4337 - Family Violence (3 credits)
SOWK 4347 - Indigenous Approaches to Environmental Justice in Social Work (3 credits)
SOWK 4367 - Seminar in Alcohol and Drug Abuse (3 credits)
SOWK 4517 - Crisis Intervention (3 credits)
SOWK 4567 - Human Sexuality (3 credits)
SOWK 4957 - Special Topics in Social Work (3 credits)

Minor Information

A minor is a secondary area of study outside of the major program of study with a structured curriculum composed of at least 15 credits, of which at least 6 credits must be at the 3000-level or above.
