The Department of Curriculum and Instruction offers a Certificate in English as a Second Language PreK-12 licensure program. The program provides advanced coursework directed at instructional practices for individuals who want to teach English learners (ELs) in PreK-12 settings. For current teachers, this certificate program can lead to an additional teacher licensure in PreK-12 English as a Second Language .

CUAI 5007 - Assessment of English Learners in PreK-12 Classrooms (3 credits)
CUAI 5010 - Advanced Studies of Language and Culture in PreK-12 Classrooms (3 credits)
CUAI 5017 - ESL Teaching Methods and Materials in PreK-12 Classrooms (3 credits)
CUAI 5604 - Advanced Internship in PreK-12 ESL Classrooms (3 credits)

Note:

Students who have taken undergraduate equivalencies of the above courses may substitute such courses with coursework approved by the Graduate Coordinator and the student’s advisor of record.
