Anthropology is the study of humankind, in all of its facets, with a particular emphasis on cultures and evolution. The anthropological perspective is uniquely comparative and holistic. The ETSU anthropology department offers courses on cultural and physical anthropology as well as archaeology. Anthropology can prepare students to meet the demands of an increasingly globalized world and job market after graduation.
A student majoring in anthropology must complete 34 credit hours of approved courses. In addition to maintaining an overall grade point average of at least 2.0 in the major, a student must earn a minimum grade of C in each major core course. Students are strongly advised to complete ANTH 1240 , ANTH 1260 , and ANTH 1280 before enrolling in other required or elective anthropology courses. This major requires a minor. To earn a degree from ETSU, there are specific course requirements put forth by ETSU, by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), by each college, and by each department. All students must meet the degree requirements at each of these levels. Please follow the format below:

College of Arts and Sciences B.A. Degree Requirements
Students majoring in the College of Arts and Sciences must meet the following requirements for the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Some requirements must be taken in addition to the General Education Core, whereas others specify which courses from the General Education Core must be taken.

Students eligible to enroll in this math course must do so during their first calendar year of enrollment or prior to accumulating 33 semester credits at ETSU.
