The Department of Kinesiology, Leisure and Sport Sciences offers two different baccalaureate degree programs: B.S. in Physical Education with concentrations in K-12 Teacher Education and Exercise Science and a B.S. in Sport and Leisure Management with concentrations in Sport Management and Park and Recreation Management.
The K-12 teacher licensure concentration prepares students as professional physical educators in grades K-12. The Exercise Science concentration prepares students to work in fitness management, wellness programs, and exercise prescription/rehabilitation. The Sport Management concentration prepares students to work as leaders in the sport industry. The Park and Recreation Management concentration prepares students for leadership roles in the leisure service industry including community, commercial, and natural resource management settings.
The Kinesiology, Leisure and Sport Sciences department also offers minors in Park and Recreation, Sport Management, Coaching, and Physical Education. Note:
All students in the SALM major are required to make a grade of C or better in all major classes. Courses may be retaken for grade adjustment in accordance with university policy. General Program Information
To earn a degree from ETSU, there are specific course requirements put forth by ETSU, by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), by each college, and by each department. All students must meet the degree requirements at each of these levels. Please follow the format below:
University-level Degree and Graduation Requirements
Total Credit Hours for Degree: 120
TBR General Education Requirements: 41 - 42 Credit Hours

Thus, these courses will satisfy both a TBR General Education requirement AND a requirement of this major. (Other majors may require different General Education courses.) 9 credits, consisting of 6 credits of written composition and 3 credits of oral communication. Written Composition

3 - 4 credits, consisting of one of the following: Sport Management Concentration
The undergraduate sport management concentration provides instruction and applied experiences in planning, organization, and leadership as they relate to the field of sport management. Students are prepared to work in a consumer-driven and constituent-based profession. Academic preparation and required clinical experiences prepare students for careers in athletic administration at the collegiate and professional levels, motorsport operations, facility operations, sport marketing, as well as a variety of other sport-related occupations. Major Core: 33 Credit Hours
Sport Management Concentration: 18 Credit Hours
