The Department of Art and Design recommends this degree for those students seeking a solid liberal arts education with a specialization in art history. The student may continue toward the M.A. or Ph.D. in art history after earning a B.A. degree in art with an art history concentration.
B.A. degree students are encouraged to discuss career options with an advisor. The B. A. in Art with an art history concentration requires a minor. Consult with the Department of Art and Design for assignment of appropriate advisor. It is essential that all students work closely with their advisors in selecting classes and the required minor. Grades in Art applied to the major must be “C” or above.
Students studying for a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree are required to complete a foreign language course numbered 2020 or above with a grade of “C-” or better; French or German is recommended for art history students. Students must also complete one 3-credit Non-United States History course. (See the College of Arts and Sciences B.A. degree requirements .)
For more information, please contact the Department of Art and Design: (423) 439-4247. General Program Information
