PHAR 6360 - Neuropharmacology(3 credits) Prerequisites: Permission of the instructor. A study of chemical transmitters in the central nervous system with special emphasis on drug modification of transmitter action and neuronal function. Topics presented include distribution and function of putative neural transmitters, drug modification of physiological and psychological function, and drug mechanisms in the treatment of affective disorders. Offered alternate years. Three hours of lecture or demonstration per week. (fall)
