HSMP 6330 - Health Policy, Advocacy, and Ethics

(3 credits)
Prerequisites: Permission from the Course Instructor for students not enrolled in the Doctor of Public Health Program. Provides skills to analyze and influence health policymaking at different levels of governance, advocate for policies and programs that affect the well-being of populations, and apply legal and ethical principles in decision-making. Conceptual and theoretical approaches to health policymaking at the federal, state, and local levels are examined, while emphasis is placed on understanding the dynamic relationships among stakeholders in different policy venues and how relationships ultimately impact population health.
