BIOL 4337 - Plant Systematics(4 credits) Prerequisites: BIOL 3100 , or equivalent.
Presents flowering plant classification and evolution including characteristics and methods of traditional plant taxonomy and computer-based phylogenetic methods using morphological and molecular data sets. Plants are studied in field and lab. Data collected from plant specimens and from GenBank are used to conduct phylogenetic analysis in various angiosperm groups. Two hours of lecture and four hours of laboratory per week.
