SOWK 4340 - Practice with Families and Groups(3 credits) Prerequisites: SOWK 3000 and formal admission to the Social Work major.
Corequisites: SOWK 4451 and SOWK 4454 .
Applies the Generalist Intervention Model to beginning practice with families and groups. The course focuses on types of groups, group dynamics, and group leadership. Students develop and implement a group that addresses a client need. The course also focuses on types of families, family dynamics, and problems families experience. Through role-play interviews students gain skill in applying interviewing techniques to families and groups.
