JAPN 4020 - Reading in Modern Japanese

(3 credits)

Prerequisites: JAPN 3025.

Provides opportunities to practice rapid reading of a variety of authentic modern Japanese texts, such as advertisements, short stories, and short newspaper articles. This course allows development of abilities to read quickly and accurately by practicing scanning and skimming skills, as well as practicing prediction, anticipation, and deduction, techniques which increase reading speed and improve reading comprehension.
