APPE 7066 - Public Health(4 credits) Prerequisites/Corequisites: Enrollment in 4th professional year (P4).
Public health promotes and protects the health of people and communities where they live, learn, work, and play. Students will engage in public health activities, considering the population as a whole, especially as the subject of government regulation and support. Students will engage with epidemiologic and economic data relevant to disease prevention and management to identify and mitigate public health problems. Students will determine the most effective ways to address varying levels of health literacy, cultural diversity, rurality, and resource scarcity. Students will employ effective interprofessional and community health education techniques. Engagement in specific activities and projects will vary based on site and timing. Students are expected to be flexible, adaptable, and professional as appropriate for the setting.
