Provides an in-depth exploration into the science of medicinal plants, including identifying medicinal plants and the chemical constituents associated with their biological activity. The ecological functions and evolutionary origins of phytochemicals are discussed. Activities include preparation of medical plants in order to extract, analyze, and assay chemical constituents from selected plants. 2 hours lecture and 3 hours lab.
