ENGL 4010 - British Novel

Prerequisites: ENGL 1020.

Explores how the English language novel, from the 18th to the 21st centuries, writes human possibilities inside violent historical changes: globalization, industrialization, empire, World Wars, and our own digital revolution. Includes classic novelists: Austen, Woolf, and the Brontë sisters alongside emerging writers like Naipaul, Ishiguro, and Zadie Smith.
