PMCY 1111 - Medical Biochemistry2 This course will provide students with an understanding of the basic principles of biochemistry as these concepts relate to human disease. Following completion of this course, students will be able to: Classify biochemical structures as carbohydrate, lipid, protein, or nucleic acid, Understand how the structures of biomolecules relate to their functions, Outline major metabolic processes for carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins, Elaborate on the relationship between nucleic acids and proteins, Describe how metabolism is integrated for the 4 types of biomolecules, Provide examples of drugs that target various biochemical processes.
