ACCT 5150 - Accounting Information for Decision Making

(3 credits)
Prerequisites: Admission to the MBA or MAcc programs or permission of the Graduate Coordinator of the MBA or MAcc.

Examines case‑based studies of financial and managerial accounting with an emphasis on research, analytical writing, and professional judgment. Examines real‑world scenarios involving fraud, ethics, internal controls, and the application of GAAP, alongside managerial topics such as contribution margin analysis and flexible budgeting for performance evaluation. The course facilitates the development of advanced skills in interpreting financial information, diagnosing organizational risks, and assessing how accounting decisions influence efficiency, accountability, and strategic outcomes.
