BIOL 3100 - General Genetics (RODP)(3 credits) Prerequisites and Corequisites: The student must have completed BIOL 1110 and BIOL 1120 (or their equivalents) in order to have a working knowledge of basic biological concepts as well as an introduction to the topics to be covered in this course. In this course, the student will study the basic principles of traditional transmission genetics as well as modern molecular genetics. The student will apply these principles in problem solving. The primary mode of delivery of course information will be PowerPoint presentations with an audio component. The student will be evaluated by means of homework, quizzes, examinations, submission of news items and a term paper. This course is for teachers who are seeking a Biology Add-on Endorsement ONLY. It will not substitute for required genetics courses in the Biological Sciences or related majors.
