The Epidemiology Graduate Certificate Program is a 15-credit-hour program designed to provide the learner with a basic understanding of the concepts of epidemiology used in public health practice. Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of disease, illness, and injury.
Admission to the Program
The criteria for admission to the Epidemiology Graduate Certificate Program include:
- A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- A minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Application materials which must be submitted to the School of Graduate Studies include:
- an application;
- three (3) letters of recommendation; and
- official transcripts from all colleges attended.
All applications will be evaluated by an admission committee. Letters of recommendation are waived for applicants of the Tennessee Public Health Workforce Development Consortium.
Articulation Agreement
Students who have completed the Epidemiology Graduate Certificate and subsequently are admitted into the MPH with concentration in Epidemiology may have up to fifteen (15) of the certificate credits applied toward the degree program of study as long as the courses fall within the matriculation limits.
Total Core Hours: 6 Credit Hours
Concentration Requirements
Total Concentration Hours: 9 Credit Hours
If a student has previously completed one of the courses listed in the certificate program at another institution or in fulfillment of another degree at ETSU, the student should work with the academic advisor to choose an appropriate course to substitute for the certificate requirements. Total Required Coursework Hours: 15 Credit Hours
Additional Information
A student may use a course from the following list to replace a required course previously taken at another institution or completed in fulfillment of another degree at ETSU. Gainful Employment
