The minor in Art History provides students with a broad understanding of art history and appreciation of the visual arts within an historical/ cultural context and improves their research skills. Art History strengthens understanding of the diversity of human cultural endeavors, productively enhancing specific majors at ETSU based on the humanities and supplementing the educational experience of other majors. On a student’s transcript this minor provides evidence of cultural knowledge and experience in research and writing, enhancing a student’s credentials for graduate school and certain types of employment, including, but not limited to, gallery and museum work, cultural institutions and the tourism industry.
Grades applied to the minor must be “C” or above. Students are encouraged to consult with an art history advisor prior to selecting and registering for classes.
