Chemistry Minor Program Information
Department of Chemistry PO Box 70695 Phone: (423) 439-4367 Web Address: www.etsu.edu/cas/chemistry/ In simplest terms, chemistry is the science of matter. Anything that can be touched, tasted, smelled, seen or felt is made of chemicals. Chemists are the people who transform the everyday materials around us into amazing things. Some chemists work on cures for cancer while others monitor the ozone protecting us from the sun. Still others discover new materials to make our homes warmer in the winter, or new textiles to be used in the latest fashions. The knowledge gained through the study of chemistry opens many career pathways. Here are just a few of the careers chosen by chemists. There are a multitude of careers available to chemists which range from positions in industry, academics, government and medical careers, to give a brief list (www.acs.org/content/acs/en/careers.html) The Chemistry Minor consists of a minimum of 26 credits of study offered by the Department of Chemistry as stipulated below.
