The Physical Education minor is offered for students who are interested in physical education but who do not want to major in teacher certification in physical education. This minor is designed to help students acquire skills and knowledge to assist in preparation for entering the Master of Arts in Teaching program and for those who plan to work with children outside the school setting.

Flexibility in the Physical Education minor allows students to customize an 18 credit program in consultation with the program coordinator. The minor does not lead to teacher licensure.

Physical Education Minor: 18 credits

• PEXS 3005 - Instructional Methods for Physical Education and Coaching (3 credits)
• PEXS 3032 - Psychomotor Development in Children (3 credits)
• PEXS 3080 - Teaching Aerobic Conditioning (3 credits)
• PEXS 3085 - Teaching Rhythms and Gymnastics (3 credits)
• PEXS 1510 - Introduction to Kinesiology (3 credits)
• PEXS 4060 - Measurement and Evaluation in Physical Education (3 credits)

Minor Requirement

A minor is a secondary area of study outside of the major program of study with a structured curriculum composed of at least 18 credits of which at least 9 credits must be at the 3000-level or above.
