The proposed curriculum for the Spanish Minor requires 21 credits. Each course is three (3) credits. There are nine (9) required core credits in Spanish, three (3) credits of a Culture Elective, three (3) credits of a Linguistics Elective, and six (6) credits of SPAN Free Electives. Courses beyond the required classes are selected in consultation with the student’s advisor, based on relevance to the student’s background and interests.

Transfer and Residency Policy


Students transferring to ETSU and wishing to receive a minor in a foreign language must complete at least 9 credits of upper division courses for the minor at ETSU.

Spanish Minor Pre-requirements


Spanish Minor Requirements: 21 credits


Linguistics Elective: 3 credits


Choose one (1) of the following Linguistics courses (3 credits): 

Free Electives: 6 credits


Choose six (6) credits of any SPAN course 2020 or higher. 

Minor Requirement


A minor is a secondary area of study outside of the major program of study with a structured curriculum composed of at least 18 credits of which at least 9 credits must be at the 3000-level or above.
