American Sign Language Minor

American Sign Language Minor Program Information

The minor in American Sign Language (ASL) is appropriate for students wishing training in ASL for future communication with individuals in the Deaf community. The minor consists of a minimum of 18 credits of study. Students are encouraged to consult with a departmental advisor and review course descriptions prior to selecting and registering for class.

American Sign Language Minor Requirements: 18 credits

• ASLC 2010 - American Sign Language I Basic (3 credits)
• ASLC 2020 - American Sign Language II Intermediate (3 credits)
• ASLC 3010 - Introduction to Deaf Culture (3 credits)
• ASLC 3020 - Linguistic Perspectives on ASL (3 credits)
• ASLC 4010 - American Sign Language III Grammar Proficiency (3 credits)
• ASLC 4020 - American Sign Language IV Advanced (3 credits)

Minor Requirement

A minor is a secondary area of study outside of the major program of study with a structured curriculum composed of at least 18 credits of which at least 9 credits must be at the 3000-level or above.
