The Epidemiology Minor is an 18-credit program to provide students with an introduction to the basic science of public health. Epidemiology is the study and analysis of the distribution (who, when, and where) and determinants of health and disease in populations. It is the cornerstone of public health and shapes policy decisions and evidence-based practice by identifying risk factors for disease and disease prevention. Major areas of epidemiologic study include disease causation, transmission, outbreak investigation, disease surveillance, and screening. Epidemiologic issues are of importance as they impact the social, legal, economic, cultural frameworks of communities.

Epidemiology Minor: 18 credits
