Art Minor under the B.S. or B.A.

General Program Information


The minor in art consists of a minimum of 21 credit hours of study. The requirements for the minor include 6 credit hours selected from the Studio Foundations courses (ARTA 1xxx classes), 6 credit hours of 2xxx classes (ARTA or ARTH 2xxx classes), and 9 credit hours selected from 3xxx or above ARTA or ARTH classes. Grades in Art applied to the minor must be C or above. As many 2xxx and above ARTA and ARTH classes include prerequisites, students are encouraged to consult with a departmental advisor and course descriptions prior to selecting and registering for class.

Core Requirements: 6 Credit Hours


 Two courses selected from the following:

Sophomore-level Electives: 6 Credit Hours


Selected from ARTA (studio) or ARTH (art history) courses. At least one 2xxx ARTA (studio) course is highly recommended. Consult with departmental advisor and courses descriptions for prerequisites for 3xxx and 4xxx studio courses. 

Upper-Division Electives: 9 Credit Hours


  • Selected from any 3xxx or above ARTA or ARTH courses. (9 credits)
